For this week’s reading and assignments, you will be going around the internet to different websites and investigating different developmental screeners. You should also start reading Schooling Beyond Measure. 

Posted below will be the different links; you will go to each one and follow the instructions given in this document. Then, for your blog, please write a critique of the material using the Neo-Socratic Method, and also include responses to these questions:

Throughout this semester, I want you to be thinking about power in education. Think about the use of power in classrooms, in your own school, in your community, and in our country. When you look at these screeners, where does the power reside – is it with the teachers, the students, families, community, or someone/something else entirely?

• How are these screeners useful? What kinds of settings would best be equipped to use them?
• Who benefits from using these screeners? Who, in your opinion, does not?
• What are the drawbacks of using these developmental screeners?
• How do these screeners affect instruction in classrooms?

• Go to this website and read the page. Then, watch the video towards the bottom under Product Details.
• Click on Scoring and Reporting and read through that section. Then take a look at all of the Sample Reports
• Click on Resources and then skim through the Alignment Comparison
• Click on Training and scroll down to Past Webinars. Watch the video entitled Overview of DIAL-4. 
• Watch the first 36 minutes of the video. Once it finishes with the motor development, drag the slider over to minute 50:32 and the slide that says, “What does the data mean?” Please listen to the remainder of the presentation.

• Go to this website  and look around. Click on a variety of the link options to familiarize yourself with the product - it is very common here in Hawaii.
• Read through this document.
• Take some time to watch this video. You do not have to watch the whole thing, but watch enough to get a feel for how it is used.

Once you have finished reading through all of these website sections, please write your blog entry, referring to the instructions above, and two responses to two of your peers’ blogs.
